Laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser to cut materials, and is used for industrial manufacturing applications.
Laser cutting works by directing the output of a high power laser, by computer, at the material to be cut.
The material then either melts, burns, vaporizes away, or is blown away by a jet of gas, leaving an edge with a high quality surface finish.
A Broad Range of Possibilities
Tolerances can be maintained to an accuracy of +/-0.1mm.
Minimal effect on temper when hardened steels is used.
Plated or coated steels can be cut with minimal damage to the edge.
Intricate shapes using the old conventional technology was found to be impossible to achieve.
Surface marring is eliminated on high finished materials.
For accurate cutting of mated components kerf compensation is used. |
